Abstract
Clinical studies were made of 55 cases of incipient cervical cancer, who were visited to cancer screening center in Kyung-pook N. University Hospital from Oct. 26, 1969 to Aug. 6 1971, for confirmatory cervix biopsy because of suspicious and positive cytology, and the following results were obtained; 1. There were 147 specimens(66.8%) in positive biopsy and 73 specimens(33.2%) in negative biopsy of total 220 biopsy specimens. There was no significant difference between the highest biopsy positive area, C and the lowest, A. 2. The cervical cancer stage Ia was more extensive than intraepithelial cancer in the degree of surface involvement. 3. The diagnostic accuracy of Schiller`s iodine test was 71.3%, and the cancer positive specimens were 66.7% in Schiller negative area. 4. Among the distribution of schiller positive area, coexistence with upper &lower cervical lip was 29 cases(64.4%) and was the most frequent. 5. The fractional smears of portio for determination of biopsy target showed a high diagnostic accuracy, therefore it is recommended for clinical use. 6. Among the distribution of cancer positive area, the most frequent area was coexistence with portio and endocervical canal, diagnosed by fractional smear. 7. The important gross finding in 55 cases of incipient cervical cancer was simple erosion which is frequently seen in clinical examination.
